 With new uniforms, most groups will grow. This is called the “uniform effect” and numerous studies have indicated that groups who wear uniforms while performing attract new membership. This is the reason many volunteer events will offer T-shirts to attract followers.

 Today is Giving Tuesday and Ginger Snaps Apparel is celebrating by announcing the winner of the 2017 Ginger Snaps Apparel Music Trip Scholarship.
The winner of this year's scholarship is Avon Park High School in Avon Park, Florida! Impacted by Hurricane Irma Although the judges were not aware of this at the time of choosing the winner, Ginger Snaps Apparel learned that the school endured a direct hit from Hurricane Irma and was closed for a considerable time. In addition, many of the teachers, faculty, and students were without power or unable to live in their homes. The Trip Avon Park's high school choir will travel from Florida to New York City to participate in a National Youth Choir and sing at the incredible Carnegie Hall. The festival music was written over a span of 600 years and the students will learn about culture and style as it pertains to the vast differences in each selection. They will also experience a Broadway musical, the 9-11 museum, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty and much more. Safety Ginger Snaps Apparel asked each applicant about their plans to keep the students safe on their trip. Avon Park requires a 5:1 ratio of chaperone to students, overnight hall monitoring in the hotel, check-ins, background checks, and more to demonstrate their commitment to keeping each student engaged and safe. About the Avon Park Community Joy Loomis, the Choir Director, shared that the community is a rural community with many of the students never traveling out of the state. This is a great opportunity for their school. The students "are working hard to fund raise and make this once-in-a-lifetime dream come true. I have told them that the money is out there if they will work for it. Our sweet, small community is helping as best as they can!" wrote Mrs. Loomis. Ginger Snaps Apparel is honored to help support music education and wishes the best to each of the 82 applicants of this year's scholarship. If your school was not chosen this year, do not lose heart! The application period will reopen in summer 2018. |
